Body & Soul
Sheridan Tank Crew at rest
  • move

by: Engin Kayral [ GRAYWOLF ]

As Tamiya released the new M551 Sheridan Vietnam War in 2019, Vladimir sculpted a series of U.S. Tank Crew figures that will look great with this tank but also can fit to other vehicles. One of these sets is B6-35311 Body&Soul with two tankers at rest and again inspired by a real-time photo.

  • Kit content comes well packed in standard cardboard box of BRAVO*6 labeled with a photo of the painted figures. Body parts and other small parts are seperately inserted into transparent zip-lock bags.

  • Casting is clean with no mistakes or air bubbles and details are very sharp. A fast cleanwork will be needed to get rid of the slightly visible seamlines.

  • Figure-A
is posed to lay on the 152 mm barrel of Sheridan reading a newspaper or looking at a Playboy centerfold. It comes as a full body figure with seperate arms. He has bare chest and wears 3rd pattern combat trousers and 2nd pattern Jungle boots. Sculpted nicely in clean and crisp details, figure should be placed to the correct position for a good fit on Sheridan. As shown in boxart; right foot will be on the edge of optical transmitter and left foot will be over the guard of right front headlight.

  • Sitting curled up with his arms put on his knees,
    Figure- B
is posed to read a letter next to the driver’s hatch. He wears an OD undershirt, tropical jungle trousers and boots. Wrinkles and folds on the clothing, details like half-loaded cargo pockets, upfolded trotters and boot laces are well defined.

  • Facial features and hair are nicely sculpted on both figures.

  • Arms are given as seperate parts. Figure-A arms can be posed to read a newspaper or looking a centerfold, Figure-B arms are suitable to read a letter or a magazine.

  • CVC Helmet - Combat Vehicle Crewmen helmet was a lightly padded crash helmet for wear inside all US armored fighting vehicles during the Vietnam era providing head protection for the bumps and jars. It was composed of plastic-resin coated ballistic nylon and gave almost equivalent protection as the M1 helmet. The details on the helmet like Exterior draw string which allows the wearer to snug up the earphone cup allowing a better fit, Send/Receive switch box and earphones are well defined.

  • Tropical uniform jacket over Searchlight with cover

  • PE fret - 4 boom microphone of 2 different types for CVC Helmet

  • Printout - Playboy magazine, centerfold, letter and envelope

    Conclusion

This is an excellent two figure kit not only for M551 but can be used for all US tanks and AFVs of Vietnam War with some minor changes on Figure-A legs. Very realistic poses for at rest scenes.

    Highly Recommended

Good review, it's a perfect addition to Tamiya's new VN Sheridan.

Wasn't this set announced here some time back? I distinctly remember the guy balanced on the barrel which would be ladying hot to the touch in the tropics, by the way.

Oh, that is simply tooo funny! The system bleeped me when I used the vernacular for female dog and replaced it with "ladying" hot. Ar! Ar! By definition a lady isn't the B word and the B is never a lady. Stupid computers.

It’s a simple word filter with the word a chooser by the site owner/programmer/mod. Yes, this is the same set. Only with a photo for the pose.
