HK 416

Heckler & Koch developed the HK416 for U.S. special operations forces as a major product improvement of M4/M16-type carbines and rifles. Using the HK-proprietary gas piston system found on the G36, the HK416 does not introduce propellant gases and carbon fouling back into the weapon’s interior, making it the most reliable of any M4/M16 type weapon.

The HK416 has been combat-proven in Southwest Asia and has also gained worldwide attention of military, law enforcement, and security users.

XM320

Re-designated as the M320, the M320 is a 40mm grenade launcher in use with U.S. regular and special operations forces. The M320 has been introduced into the U.S. Army as a replacement for the venerable M203 launcher that has been in use for many years. The M320 is a variant of the Heckler and Koch AG-C/ EGLM (Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module). Designed to be used as an attachment to a rifle or carbine or as a stand-alone weapon system, the M320 can fire a range of 40mm projectiles, including High Explosive, High Explosive Dual Purpose, smoke and illumination rounds. Unlike the M203, the XM320's breech opens to the sides which enables it to accommodate longer projectiles, including newer non-lethal rounds.

3 x Magpul type magazines with Ranger Plate for side of magazine well

3 x Stand-alone standard magazines with Ranger Plate

3 x Stand-alone Magpul magazines with Ranger Plate

SUMMARY
Highs: Like the addition of extra magazines and also the two different types of magazines.
Lows: Would have liked the XM320/M320 to be a separate piece to have the option to leave it off the HK416.
Verdict: Crisp clean details.

While these are -undoubtedly- really fine pieces of bling they are visually indistinguishable from the regular M-4 for most modelers who haven't been spending their summers in Northern Afghanistan; it is for this reason that I personally prefer the G36 and its myriad variants. They're distinguishable and cool-looking in ways that most M-16/M-4 variants aren't. Just saying.
