introduction
In this second edition of the Panzer Manöver series, we get a look at Exercise “Lippische Rose 2018” courtesy of Daniel Nowak. That means lots of armour all kitted out with gunfire simulators, foliage as camouflage, and temporary force markings as they trundle through the leafy countryside.
contents
Between the usual thick A4-sized covers we get 40 pages crammed with big photos of the action. Text is in German only, so a German-English dictionary will help if you aren’t fluent. There are six sections starting with a six-page intro to the exercise and the forces deployed. Then comes a 14-page section on Leopards 2A5, 2A6, and 2A7 that is purely photos with captions. This is followed by an eight-page section on the Marder, then four pages on tank recovery and repairs featuring the Buffel, another four pages on support vehicles such as Fuchs and Dachs (and a Biber Leo 1-based bridgelayer - I thought those went out of service years ago!), rounded out with three pages of rocket-armed Weisels of the tank-hunters. For a short book there’s a lot of modern German armour here to get the modelling juices flowing!
conclusion
This is a title that really gives a ton of modelling ideas. There are tanks and vehicles with all sorts of field camouflage and mud-based weathering, as well as stowage to inspire that next miniature masterpiece. And for those who can read German there is no doubt a good description of a modern exercise.

About Tom Cromwell (barkingdigger)
FROM: ENGLAND - EAST ANGLIA, UNITED KINGDOM

A Yank living overseas on a long-term basis, I've been building tanks since the early '70s. I relish the challenges of older kits (remember when Tamiya was "new"?...) because I love to scratch-build.
