Modern US Infantry - 16 unpainted miniature figures, made of plastic, in 1/72 scale

Introduction:

I have only recently began building models again, and as my wife and I live in a small apartment, I find 1/72nd to be the ideal size. This said, I had wanted to build a diorama in this small scale with modern subjects, and in my research came across the Prieser offerings on EBAY, which I purchased.

Review:

In the box you have 2 sprues of 8 1/72nd figures, 4 of which have separate helmeted heads, and 4 with heads attached, one without a helmet. There is very little flash, and the figures have good detail all over, with small attachment points - all in all very nicely done.

Most have separate arms, with multiple choices of arm position, some with slung weapons, others with empty hands, and one that has a 5.65 mm x 4.38 mm square of plastic that I assume to be a clipboard, but could easily be a tablet computer, depending on the builders imagination.

Weapon wise, all but one of these soldiers carry what appears to be the M16a2, one of which has the under-slung grenade launcher. The odd man out is carrying what I assume to be the M249 LMG.

The uniforms and equipment could easily be US Army or USMC during Desert Storm, OP REFORGER, or Operation Iraqi Freedom with a change in paint, but would need some re-working with Apoxie Sculpt to work for the period after the 2004, in which the Army began wearing ACU's and the Marine Corp unveiled the MCCUU. This said, these figures can easily cover a very long period of time, from late cold war to early aughts, giving a good value.

SUMMARY
Highs: Excellent molding, nice variety of poses, long period which these figures could represent.
Lows: Not "modern" anymore, poses not useful for combat operations.
Verdict: A nice set for non-combat dioramas and adding life to your 1/72nd vehicles.
