Cottage Ruin

by: Vinnie Branigan [ TEACHER ]

introduction

Great North Roads began as a small accessory maker for dioramas around 12 years ago. Now owned by Simon Farrugia, they produce a massive range of buildings, roadway surfaces and pavement sections, and are now beginning to produce their own range of 1/35th scale figures. The cottage ruin is available in plaster as in the example shown, or resin at a slightly increased price.

in the box

As can be seen, the product is delivered in a sturdy corrugated cardboard box, with each individual part wrapped carefully in bubblewrap. The Cottage Ruin consists of eight parts of moulded plaster, a small length of basswood, and two small Ziploc bags, one with some roof tiles, and the other with a small amount of bricks.

the parts

The eight moulded plaster parts consist of a small section of rear wall, two damaged sidewalls, the two damaged sections that comprise the front wall, a chimneystack and a superbly moulded fireplace for inside. Also moulded in plaster is a beautiful cellar door for outside the front wall. All parts were cleanly moulded and free from any damage.

in conclusion

Quite frankly, for the quality of the parts and what you get for your money, I don’t think this set can be beaten. It would not out of place anywhere in almost any theatre of War, at any time. A winner from Simon at Great North Roads.
