Another big batch of Photos from Trumpeter was lying in my in-box this morning. The subject? What, at first looks like an Sd.Kfz 251 on steroids, the ARMORED version of the Sd.Kfz.8
The New 1/35th Scale model from Trumpeter, is:

01584 - DB10 (Sd.Kfz.8 12 ton Armored Version)

Scheduled for Release in October/November 2011.

Our thanks, once again, to Trumpeter for the Update!

YES.. REALLY.. and if you can't see the difference between the two situations, then I'm sorry to say that you have a problem. This is not the first time someone throws accusations at Trumpeter without showing any kind of proof to back them up. If someone accuses me of something the first time.. and the accusations turn up to be untrue.. then they accuse me of the same thing again.. and again the accusations are proven to be untrue... and guess what, they still make the same accusations again.. and again.. and again....... after so many times (In my opinion) there's no room left for politeness anymore. I know you're probably referring to the post about the soldering DVD and Brian's way of attacking the guy who did it and his attitude towards other (less gifted) modelers..... Like I said, if you can't see the difference, then....... ain't nothing more left to be said. YES.. REALLY Hisham

Once again I have to laugh. I believe GAOYUE did say PLEASE. I also believe he has a right to defend his company. Why was there no hooppla over Masterbox doing the MB 170 in plastic? Hell, DES has several versions of that vehicle. Why wasn't there a hoopla over Model Victoria doing their Fiat "Topolino" after all DES already has several models of this vehicle under the Simca 5 label? Why was there no hoopla over MB and Dragon doing the MB G4? After all it's been availble for years from Plus Models? I personnally have no interest in this particular vehicle, but for myself it's nice to see all plastic manufactures investing in NEW TOOLING and doing things other than the same Shermans, and Panzers in plastic.

I have no problems, and indeed, there is nothing more left to be said. Have fun.

I don't know, but I've noticed the same thing. I have my own thoughts on this, but the bottom line is that companies copying each other's kits is actually a pretty rare occurrence as far as I understand. Correct me if I'm wrong here. Both HobbyBoss and Trumpeter have been cranking out some really nice kits over the past few years. Not only that, but Trumpeter has even gone back to correct flaws on some of their kits for newer releases/versions. That's pretty impressive. And did you notice how nobody bothered trying to accuse HobbyBoss of copying the old Peerless 1/35 M3A1 White scout car? It would have been too easy to cry foul on such an accusation because that mold dates back to the 70's. And just on a side note nobody ever complained about the molds for that kit making their rounds between a good handful of companies who didn't bother trying to make their own tooling for the vehicle, unlike HobbyBoss who created one from scratch. Just food for thought.

I never quite understand the thread hijacking tendencies of the Web, but I for one am glad to see an Sd.Kfz.8 in styrene, and hope that Trumpeter will bring out less-exotic versions of this prime mover over time. While the DES kit is likely very nice, it's resin and costs 142 Euros without shipping. So presumably this kit will put the vehicle in the stashes of more folks than any resin one can. That seems like a good thing to me.

Bill-C; "Hear, Hear!" It's about the KIT being out in styrene. Looks pretty cool to me, and I think Trumpeter ought to get a "Thank You" for jumping forward with this rather rare beast. I'll bet it will be quite a bit less than any resin edition- so, yes, I may be one of the many who could find this one in their stash some day! Bob

Well, looking at the page-views for this item, it's reached a more than respectable 6200+. So, putting that another way, 6200 people felt it was sufficiently interesting to actually read it. Presumably these 6200 people also aren't interested in the conspiracy theory nonsense either. My point. Next time this gets raised (about whatever manufacturer) without fear or favor, i'm going to start administering the topic. It's now got to the stage that for many its taking away from their enjoyment by having to listen to half-baked theories and innuendo. On the other hand, if you do have concrete evidence of the 'smoking gun', then i'd be delighted to hear it. Without fear or favor and whatever manufacturer... Evidence that is, not hearsay.

It amazes me that people are complaining that they have too many choices with modelling subjects. Most people would not even think of buying a high price resin kit, but a styrene one for about $35 most people would jump at I think.
