Cyber-hobby have announced the release of what is virtually a diorama-in-a-box. The kit comprises a Sdkfz 251/1 Ausf C half track with German infantry figures from Masterbox.
This is another release in the orange box series, and it is interesting to see the collaboration between DML/Cyber-hobby and Masterbox. Makes you wonder what other collaborations we might see in the future.

I don't know who started the diorama-in-a-box idea, but of recent years I suspect it was Tamiya, and I have made several such myself. The Sdkfz 251/1 Ausf C needs no introduction as it has been extensively reviewed, warts and all, in the past.

The Masterbox set of four figures is dated 1941-42, and comprises a group of figures on the advance, except for one whose advancing days are over, and if the sculpting is up to the standard of the illustration, will make a nice combination with the 251.

Who knows, perhaps DML/Cyber-hobby are producing kits such as this to use up their stocks of older and less accurate kits so that they can update the kits by removing the innacuracies ? We can but hope . . . . .

Thanks, Rob, for the update. Everybody should have at least 1 251 in their collection. Interesting that they're using someone else's figures.

Not really a diorama in a box as there is no base. I remember the old Airfix set of D-Day etc with the models, troops and bases.. Now THEY were dioramas in a box! Same as the original Matchbox 1/76 kits with their bases.

I might just have to pick this one up as I have been wanting to copy a photo I saw in a book (which I no longer have sadly), that had two 251s and a bunch of pz gren storming a village in Russia.

Dragon 251, Masterbox figures, now if they would throw in a Miniart diorama base you would REALLY have something! Seems like they are close, Miniart seems to toss in Dragon figures now about half the time, so this might be a small step forward we'll see sometime in the near future. Well, one can hope anyway!
