This is the second of this week's MRAP ATVs in 1/35th scale and in Styrene. This time from the Chinese company Kinetic
It's really very interesting as Kinetic Models are, with these release going to be entering the Armor business. The New model is:

61007 - MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV)

From Stevens International come the following details:

The M-ATV is a high-mobility, high-protection medium tactical vehicle specifically engineered fortreacherous environments. It is a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected(MRAP) vehicle that incorporates an independent suspension systemto provide durable mobility. The MRAP was designed in response tothe destruction of vehicles/crew in Iraq&Afghanistan by land mines. It was first deployed in Afghanistan in 2009. The armor configurationprovides survivable crew protection from land mines based on the V-shaped design of the under frame. In addition, the centrally inflated“run-flat’ tires allow the M-ATV to travel at least 30 miles at 30mpheven if two tires lose pressure. Kit features complete interior detail, roof mounted turret with M-240 machine gun (which can be operatedfrom the turret itself or remotely from the cabin), 5 rubber tires,photo-etched grills and incredible exterior details.

Expected release date will be November 2011 although, shortly we'll be adding more images to the story - directly from the manufacturer.

Our thanks to Stevens International for the 'taster'!

That is good news Brent. Wouldnt be the first time two companies released a same kit though huh Jim? I guess the Italeri EA-6B is different than the Kinetic one, same as their E-2c hawkeye?

who else has one in styrene?

The Italeri EA-6B and E-2C are actually reboxes of the Kinetic kits, likely the only thing different would be the markings otherwise exactly the same. The 2 M-ATVs are coming from 2 different companies, and one only has to look a the promo material for each to see that they are 2 different kits. One from Panda Hobby, a new company that just started made up of from execs from a couple of other companies, the other from Kinetic, which is owned as we most know by Lucky Model. These are 2 completely different kits, like Tamiya Tiger I and Dragon Tiger I......both Tigers....but both completely different kits.

I know the Italeri and Kinetic ones are the same minus decals. My only point was that it is not unheard of for two companies to release the same kit. It's good that two companies have announced it, I just hope that one of them aren't doing what Dragon did a long time ago when they announced a Stryker when AFV Club and Trumpeter announced theirs.... I just dont like how some people on this site insult people's intelect. Just pisses me off sometimes! But then again, he always does that. Wish I was all knowing. Herky

Jeremy, I apologize for my somewhat intemperate reaction. Part of it came after a week when it seemed every release was getting questioned as some kind of weird conspiracy (DML's LVT, the Pick-Up, and the two MRAP ATVs were ALL at some point getting creditted as belonging to some other manufacturer, sometimes even correctly). Yes, if there HAD been another (actual, not CAD drawings) it could have been understandable as it was, BOTH announcements came on top of each other...

Jim, I've seen multiple companies releasing the same model before. The 1/350 LHD-1 USS Wasp model was simultaneously released in Europe by Revell Germany, in the US by the previously unheard-of Gallery Models, and in Asia by somebody else (Fujimi? I heard Academy at one point too). So it's not impossible.

By no means. However, Kinetic HAVE wanted to get into the Armor market for a while now, it's a bit unfortunate that they've chosen a fascinating subject which has been a little overshadowed by ANOTHER of the same vehicle. That said, I guess there is space for two MRAP ATVs in 1/35th scale Styrene.

Treadheads, I haven’t put together any modern armor kits in a very long time; I can’t remember back that far. But I will be getting this one for sure. First time seeing something like this, it is a very interesting looking vehicle. I won’t be doing any kind of research on this vehicle but rather I intend to use it for a ‘what if’, end of days, zombie stomping and survival vehicle crewed with some homeboys and rednecks (they have the best and latest weapons in town and are quite innovative). Of course I won’t be forgetting to add a few cases of beer to the stowage! Happy modeling, -Eddy
