Dragon Models Limited have released another in their line four loosely related figure sets which have come in for some criticism in the past, This time however I suspect that this set will be very popular with fans of German World War Two figures. German Waffen Grenadiers 1944 – 45 is a part of DML’s 1/35th 1939 – 45 and is listed in their catalogue as 6704.
This latest set of figures from DML has an interesting mix of clothing and equipment which should appeal, especially so to those who enjoy making vignettes as this set really lends itself to that facet of the hobby. The equipment supplied with the figures is “Gen 2” which I know will be received very well.

Hi ...and of course the figure on the far right has been the inspiration for another figure company, but in resin not plastic. Alan

Some of you guys crack me up. Dragon releases two very specific action-oriented sets (here and here), and now that they release a more static set, the moaning begins. Hey, guys, Alpine Miniatures hasn't released an action pose hardly ever (see photo above for the typical resin figure pose). I think DML is providing a nice mix of action and repose. But I guess there's no pleasing some folks, LOL.

It is even more funny that I was advocating Dragon before

I sometimes think the nonchalant poses are more useful because you can put them beside a tank or a vehicle and it will look well whereas if you have a bunch in 'action poses' you've got to use them in exactly that context so it kind of narrows down the options if you just want a good figure next to your vehicle for a bit of interest.

I think this set is far from boring. A great mix, just enough action/suspense looks like the start of a nice Patrol Dio. This set is going to make it into my stash. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do the guy with his hood up? The stance of the 1st guy with the M1944 field blouse looks good too, maybe a sniper scope would look good on his rifle. Nice one Dragon

I kind of like this set and have, with few exceptions, every set Dragon has produced, and will probably buy this one...what I can't figure out is why they stopped producing Gen2 figures!? They really were the most detailed injecction molded figres, IMHO. Hopefully they will move back in that direction. Jeff

Such as the first from the right, they found in my town once the sub part street repairs. He had a grenade in his shoe.I am not joking.

Piotr, Do you mean they were doing street repairs and dug up a WWII German soldier....with a grenade in his boot!? That's wild! Did they get his identity? What did they do with the body? This is very interesting. Let us know more Thanks, Jeff

Figure sets like these are excellent for adding a sense of scale to a vehicle. Like DML´s Allied figure set, the poses aren´t flashy, but a single vehicle on a base does not need the running, dancing, jumping type of figure. I mainly build Allied, but these figures are on my list for adding to the occasional German kit. Plus, DML has got loads of German figures, there are tons of resin sets that can be bought so I really dopn´t see the point here. You don´t have to buy this set ...
