Dragon Models have announced the pending release of a Japanese Type 2 (Ka-Mi) amphibious tank.
DML have announced this release as being "The first ever Japanese tank series item designed by Japanese". The kit is labelled as making use of the same technology as was used to produce DML's kits of Panzer III and IV kits, by which it is presumed that they are referring to slide moulding.

The release information also states that this tank is being released without flotation pontoons.Given the lack of Pacific and SE Asian conflict tanks to date, I am sure that this release will be eagerly anticipated by many.

I understand your frustration, but unless you are building this in the water you dont need them. They dumped them when they got ashore, so if you have this thing "int he jungle" having the pontoons on it would be out of place...

just saw the price 80 USD on Lucky model, are they crazy? It is only 50 on Dragon USA...

Lucky never has great prices on Dragon.

Picked mine up this past weekend at my LHS - CDN$50. I promised myself that I would not start anything new until I have finished some of the other projects I have on the go, but am sorely tempted to crack the box open on this and get going!

I said the same thing until I cracked it open and started looking at the parts. It is a great looking kit. I have noticed some instruction omissions and mislabeling (all dealing with the turret) but the kit is going together like a dream. Fit is great and the detail is fantastic. One of Dragons best. Roy

Which is exactly why I haven't removed the plastic yet!

I'm working on the build for the review right now. I think the quality of the molding is the best Dragon has done yet.

Are you documenting all the instructional errors. I've found quite a few, mostly with the swapping of part numbers but one ommision and a very unclear procedure. I agree, the quality of the molding on this kit is the some of the best I've seen. Very well done. I hope they do a Type 95. Roy

Yes, documenting very carefully. No fit issues, no molding issues, great build. It looks like the indy link tracks will be a must as the DS tracks fit very tight with no sag at all.
