Dragon Models have announced another Early/Mid-War Figure set in 1/35th.
6656 - Advance To Kharkov 1942

AtK is a four-figure set once again covering pretty well-trodden ground by DML in their figure releases. All the figures are German and as a welcome change, a Luftwaffe Field Division figure is included. The weapons & equipment, as is now standard practice are the Gen2 set.

It ISN'T a set which is going to get German modelers going Wow! What it is, is a set which will be very useful.

Now about those Gen2 Weapon sets. Just when are Dragon going to take the plunge and release them seperately?

The quality of Dragon figures now means that if one or two don´t fit your idea for dioramas or vignettes, they are good enough to be stand alone figures as well (IMO). I can see the Luftwaffe figure used for this. A new head and some care and attention, he would look great!

Thanks for that - I was rushing to publish it and something was niggling me about that figure... [/quote] Obviously that should have been fourth not four.

This probably the first Dragon kit I have been interested in in some time (except the USMC Pelielu set which I need for a dio that is sitting stagnant.

Nope, I like the sets which are workmanlike and free of gimmicks. Quiet satisfaction rather than euphoria?

They look nice and all, but where are the Marines they promised a few months back? Nothing more than a drawing.

Great to see the Luftwaffe soldier pointing to a bullet or sharpnel dent in his helmet. He will fit in nicely in a diorama next to an AA gun with combat damage. Thanks for the news update, Jim

Could anyone identify their ranks for me?
SEP 06, 2010 - 04:26 AM
Left to right of box-art: 1) Luftwaffe Obergefreiter 2) Not sure, as I think he wears slip-on shoulder camouflage straps which conceal his rank. 3) Heer Obergefreiter 4) Not sure due to angle of box-art and the CAD images being too pixilated, but the figure would be of a squad leader rank due to choice of weapon. It's mostly academic though, as the ranks of the figures are easily changed.

Thanks!
