With the complex structure of Modern vehicle Netting it's not simply a question of looking thru fabric stores looking for something that 'might' fit the bill. Now, Echelon Fine Details have come up with an innovative proposition.
Netting in decal form? Get outta here!

Well, it's been done with weld detail, surface details etc. So...

This New product from Echelon has received a special treatment to eliminate clear edges plus it is slightly thicker than normal decals. After removal from backing paper, let it dry, sprinkle tacum powder over the adhesive side to neutralise the stickiness and it's ready. Initially, it's going to be available in a pre-colored Sand shade although further colors and Netting styles are in the planning stages.

Our thanks to Lawrence Goh of Echelon Fine Details for the News!

This looks like a really interesting and useful product, nice one Lawerence. I'm with Paul and Jim on the British Scrim Netting? Brillient idea. Al

Hello Scrim netting fans, I'm not entirely sure what the Scrim netting looks like. But after a search on the net, my conclusion is that they are camouflage coloured nets to cover the faces? At close range, they are interweaved so that each "gap" is rectangular in appearance. At 1/35, it is going to be 100 times difficult to produce using the same decal technique (not impossible, but would require a lot of effort and testing - even more than the modern camo net) Secondly, it will be single coloured - manual painting of additional colours will be required (not to mention if the material can handle it). Thirdly, it will cost around US$500 per A5 set.... But jokes aside - on a more serious note. It is the demand that drives the effort and intensive research work at the end of the day. I know for a fact that the modern camouflage net is used widely across the globe's armies (albeit in different colours and some in different patterns) and I've also taken note of a number of modellers pleas for such a product. So far, the Scrim netting is a totally uncharted territory for me to go into, such as overall demand for it in particular (will it be as great as the modern net for example?). Thus, lets hope more will speak up in support of such an idea or else, all the effort and time, not to mention costs, will be flushed down the proverbial toilet. I thank you for your idea nevertheless, it needs to be reviewed upon and given a deeper thought - a proper feasibility study before proceeding with it. Now I must get back to getting the camo net for release - I hear many knocks on my front door already!...

Hello Lawrence, that are good news so far (and as long as I can get one set) but what please was the purpose of the mail list procedure "I've already added you to the list, so no worries - just keep your eyes peeled on your in-box. All on the list will be informed when the set is ready for sale," when I read it here more or less accidently instead of a mail...?
