Masterbox Ltd. have now published images of a set which should be available in the next month or so.
MB3551 - "Maquis, French Resistance" has featured previously on THIS Network beginning as company-supplied images of a 'WiP' to this, the final evolution of this new set.

The set features 5 figures - 4 members of the French Resistance - 'The Maquis' after having captured a German soldier. The figures are 1/35th scale, moulded in styrene. Once agin this is another 'Vignette-in-a-Box' - something that Masterbox Ltd. have almost pioneered.

The new set should be available from January 2009.

Although this set was described earlier, the theme- a german officer captured by resistance fighters is original. there are not many resistance /partisan figures around and most are made in resin, so it is an interesting product. My experience with MB sets is that the weapons tend to be a little 'soft". however the faces are realistic and poses ar excellent. I am awaiting the release of their three Tarawa set swith marines and japanese troops.

LOL! Has anyone else noticed the small differences between the box art and the actual figures? Al mentioned the Sten, the box-art shows the magazine being on one side, but the actual model shows the other, ditto with regards to the armband. I suppose they're small so it doesn't really matter.... I'm sure some will find use in the kit... Rudi

the magazine of the sten should be on the left side. the artist got it right. you are very observant.

My LHS knows to put aside whatever masterbox kits come in for me so I'll get these. The German prisoner is very useful and the three other male figures can be coverted to a lot of other uses - Boers or IRA Irregulars from the Tan War etc. The guy in the Plus fours could be an early war British Officer.

He'd also be extremely useful for a Spanish Civil War setting. Funnily enough, one thing that did go thru my (untidy) mind that, as many of the members of the Maquis (particularly in Southern France) were Spanish Republicans, he'd be VERY unlikely to be wearing a blue shirt - for many, that was seen as a symbol of the Falange in Franco's regime... Total, 24-carat, 100% nit-picking...

A very adaptable set, MB should make money out of this one. I could use this set for civilians with a bit of converting. Chas
