Well, not sure I'll be able to resist this one!

Wonder if this is the start of a new line of half-tracks for AFV Club. Not sure I like the way the track fits in the "display" model but I suppose it can be worked a little. Dragon M16 half tracks (and M2/3s) are sometimes hard to get, but knowing AFV Club quality, this looks like a great alternative. VR, Russ

Agree the tracks look terrible and the vinyl tyres are a turn off for me. At least they are not flattened and bulged. It also looks like the armour in front of the radiator is bowed inward? The hole in the road wheel suspension unit is there, as well as the exhaust pipe mount unlike Dragon's version. Other detail missing in Dragon's version seems to be present here. Say what you will about the Dragon HT, the vertically split track assembly and the ability to fit it after painting if you took care is a far better solution. Even two styrene halves split horizontally would have been better here. Still all in all, looks to be a great kit. Hope to see AFV Club do some of the versions Dragon missed puting out.

I agree about the Dragon tracks being a better solution. Actually, I found the Dragon kit to be pretty nice (despite my reputation as a “Dragon basher”). My only real complaint is the Dragon versions are hard to find (unless you’re looking for the mortar carrier). It seems like they made tons of the mortar carrier and only a few of the GMC, M2/M3, and M16 (there I go again, bashing). But this new AFV kit looks good— I think the issues with the tracks can be worked out, after all, the real thing is a continuous rubber band too. I do wish AFV club would dispense with the rubber tires, and move to plastic as Dragon did. VR, Russ

I know It is not their habit to provide figures for crews but it sure would be nice in this case. Plus ground crew to provide more ammo and gasoline to power the turret.

If Hong Kong is not too destroyed, this would be a great problem form Peter at K59 to correct! Meanwhile there are some great fixes over at Tiger Model Productions. I just found on of the Dragon versions of this vehicle and have been collecting stuff to make it top notch. Check out Joe's machine gun parts for the vehicle, and to improve on the barrels, Aber has some good ones!

I hope AFV Club's M48A3 will be ready soon!!!

Phil, I thought AFV Club had simply given up on the M48A3. Do you have any info that would suggest the opposite?

This vehicle never fails to impress and inspire. My mind always migrates towards all the ground role possibilities. If anyone has any handy sources, pictures, videos etc. on this thing used in direct fire ground support, I'd love to see them.
