What about the dimensions? Earlier Miniart kits tend to be off scale, more close to 1/32

This earlier kit is about 1/32 unfortunately

Instead of focusing on the scale problem let's think of them as rather tall, especially for tank crew. Still, a good pose for a maintenance scene. The officer I would probably modify somehow into something more pleasing. The tool box is a great addition.

I have this set. They are relatively large for 1/35. They would benefit from aftermarket headsets. The facial features and headgear are not very well defined. Be prepared to use some putty. The poses are interesting and the addition of the tools is a bonus.

Having known some German ww2 tank crew members they were all rather small (like it was usual for many orher armies), these guys are far oversized, asuming that the re-issue is the same mold. Sorry, Miniart, your later series are way better.... Anyway, the idea is good but the subject could have been better chosen.

I measured the above middle guy with the gun-cleaning rod; he compares favorably with several Dragon figures. He also compares with Alpine figures, and is actually slightly shorter than some. From the soles of his shoes to the top of his cap measures exactly 2" (50 mm). I haven't read any criticisms of Alpine figures being 1/32 scale!

So you measured the guy that is easily the shortest there and found some figures somewhere that are his height, so no problem.

Why do you think he "is easily the shortest"?
OCT 15, 2018 - 11:22 AM
That would make him a healthy 5'10" tall. Allowing for the height of his shoes he'd be around 5'9" in his bare feet. Hardly a giant. But still around 1-2 inches taller than the average German Male of 1939(around 5'8) and maybe another inch or two taller than typical tank crew. (5'6 or so) You could grind the soles of his boots down and that would make him the right height. Healthy and muscular but the right height. You could also subtract a scale inch or two at his belt line again reducing him to scale height. A bit stocky but not all people are rail thin and the panzer uniform was often baggy. If you break down the numbers it's quite easy to repair. We all fret when a tank model is off by inches here and there and correct it. It's much easier to do with people who come in all shapes and sizes. Try dealing with the 8 1/2 head heroic proportions of some 54mm figures sometime. They look like Grecian statues not people.
