Dragon’s series of kits in 2-in-1 configuration are proving extremely popular and to maintain the momentum, the latest newcomer is an Sd.Kfz.184 Elefant.
The two vehicle version options contained in the box are a regular Elefant with unadorned hull and one with a Zimmerit coating. Because the Zimmerit covered most parts of the hull and superstructure, two upper hulls, lower hulls, frontal armors and rear plates are available in the box.

This kit thus makes an ideal buy for the modeler who hasn’t yet decided which type of Elefant to build. On the other hand, it’s an obvious choice for modelers who don’t relish the time-consuming task of adding Zimmerit themselves by hand.

Be even better if it was possible to also build a Ferdinand out of the box.

Did not every Elefant have Zimmerit? I know the Fernindads did not, but after they were sent back for an update to the Elefant, did they not all receive Zimmerit?

That's what I always thought.

I wonder if the marking options include a vehicle in winter camouflage? I've always wanted a white Elephant ...... There is already a pink one lurking at the back of the display cabinet ..... / Robin

Oh thank god. I thought I was the only one seeing them.

Correct Eric. I expect the unadorned parts are for those modellers that want to add their own Zimmerit... and who can't find one of the older un-adorned Dragon kits which would have been a cheaper option. Robin. Thank you for addressing 'the elephant in the room'. I have always been fascinated by pink elephant syndrome, whenever I drank, all I ever saw were women that looked better than they did when I was sober...

As to making a Ferdinand out of the Elephant kit: if this release is anything like the earlier Dragon releases it will be chock-full of "blued-out" extras that probably would allow anyone with intent and reference material the ability to build any variant of the Ferdinand-Elephant -especially as it includes a non-Zimmerit hull. The main change visually is the commander's hatch on the roof. I dread how much this glorious "new" release is going to cost, though...

MSRP is $69.99. Hopefully sprue shots can be found to see if any Ferdinand parts are included. I already built their Elefant, and I'd rather do a Ferd over another Elefant.
