Meng Model continues to release modern tank crew figures, this time around a set that depicts a Russian tank crew.
Meng Model presents its Russian Armed Forces Tank Crew (HS-007) in 1/35 scale. Highlights of this release are the rich facial expressions together with fine details such as in the accuracy of the uniforms. The kit contains five Russian Armed Forces tank figures in various poses.

Let me give this a try: Meng's announcement stated that it may be used with their T-90 and T-72B3 kits, so I'd guess it applies to the current era. Anyways I leave it to the subject experts to further comment.

If we are not so sure about the actual era of this figures and leaving it to the subject experts, the above comment pointing that " Highlights of this release are the rich facial expressions together with fine details such as in the accuracy of the uniforms" seems more an educated guess than a seriously based statement... From the tiny picture, the facial expressions don't seem too exciting either. On the other hand, being it a Meng release, we may expect a good detail level, so let's wait for better images.

Depending on how you paint them they could be useful for the last 20 years or so. Russian tank crew service uniforms haven't changed much since the end of Soviet era. Accessories like coats and camouflage have, but not the basic cut of a uniform that could be determined from a 1/35th scale figure. And the faces look completely generic. Neutral expression but probably well molded for plastic. Except that service driver, he looks like he doesn't want to be there. Personally I'd like to see more face sculpts that look bored.

Agreed. From the pictures of the actual figures, the uniform cut looks very generic and old. Khaki uniforms for early 90's, flora camo for 2000's and EMR (digital flora) for 2010's.

Which means little, considering that Trumpeter figures are usually of average quality at most...

Pity they didn't made/show them with the latest 6B48 Ratnik-ZK tank uniform. At least, seems Zvezda went for these.

These figures look extremely well crafted. I will need a couple of sets...a least to populate all my recent Russian armour builds. My only question is when are they gonna hit the shelves?
