All too often the manufacturers forget about all those 'ancillary' vehicles and trailers which can bring a vehicle or diorama to life. This NEW release (the first of two reports) from AFV Club should be very well-received indeed...
AF35125 - 60cm Searchlight Unit 'Flakscheinwerfer' mit Sd.Ah.51 trailer is a new release from AFV Club - our thanks to the manufacturers for the images!

Hi Jim: This is a very cool and interesting subject, but I wonder whether a generator would be needed to show this in action, or did they have some sort of internal power source? Cheers, Scott

Looks like a nice little kit and I was wondering about the power supply too. Wouldn't it be likely that it's a truck mounted generator and that's the vehicle that would tow the searchlight into place? Bob

According to the info I've found on Lonesentry.com , this searchlight is used with an 8-kilowatt generator that gives the required current at 85 volts. It is connected to the searchlight by a cable 110 yards long. The truck that tows the searchlight trailer also carries the generator, which can "either be operated in the body of the truck or be unloaded on the ground". DesKit has released a resin 1/35th kit of the german 8 Kw generator (kit #35098): DesKit website HTH Frenchy
