No Sven, there are no simiraties between BRDM-1 and 2. Completely different vehicles. Anyway, I think we should wait and see how Trumpeter's kit actually is when released. People usually tend to be hard when judging any Trumpeter kit, while on the other hand are easily ready to be tolerant with other kits/brands. (the comments about Meng's Cougar 6X6 Bonnet being 10mm longer -that means 35cm in 1:1- than the correct meassurement come to my mind...) Let's wait and see

as long as it is.not from trumpy it is a SUPERB KIT. let me help them.

Thanks Hugo, I thought that there were similarities between the 1 and 2 (at least hhe chassis), goes to show what I know about these vehicles :-) I take it, based on the previous comments and concerns, that the BRDM-1 has similarities to the BTR-40 then. I have always liked the look of the BRDM-1, so a brand new kit of this vehicle is good news.

But no interior in an open topped vehicle. How cheap can Trumpy be getting?

It's not open topped. I guess complete ignorance of the subject isn't enough of a reason not to post negative information about a kit or company these days. Or is this one of those "opinions" that simply can't be criticized? KL

Still it's a bit expensive for a smallish vehicle without interior and people may have had higher expectations because the older plastic kit on the market has an interior. I got the old Arsenal kit which isn't that bad, compared the hulls between Arsenal/EEC and Trumpeter and sizewise they're quasi identical, detail is a bit crisper on the Trumpeter kit but frankly with a bit of work the ancient Arsenal kit can be made into something very presentable. I'm a bit of a fan of the vehicle, bought the Trumpeter the week of its release and planned to sell the Arsenal kit I had. Comparing the kits, I'm keeping both and will use the Arsenal interior parts and the Eduard PE for Arsenal to spruce up the Trumpeter kit. Cheers, Christophe

Considering that this image of the 'net is an example of the "bit of work" needed, I decided to go with the Trumpeter kit so as to give me a chance to actually finish it. KL

First of all, wonderful job, definitely waiting to see it painted. Secondly all of the references I have - Zaloga's Soviet Tanks and Combat Vehicles 1946 - Present one of the best - show the upper hatches and windshield armor flaps open when the vehicle is operating.

I'm hoping the aftermarket boys will do something to allow one to have the hatches open. In the words of the ship from Hitchhiker's "I can wait all day if necessary."
