An announcement from Italeri has a Jeep ready for some air field service.
Italeri has announced the Jeep – Follow Me model set. The set will include the jeep, acrylic paints, liquid cement, and brush. Looks to be a good kit for a beginner or a unique subject that could use some aftermarket parts or scratch building to build a masterpiece.

Does the Italeri Jeep have correct proportions and dimensions?? I've heard otherwise; could also just be bad info.

Yes Bronco does make a 1/35 scale Piper.

I have a bunch of The Italeri Jeeps, with & w/o trailers & hoods, & several of the Ambulance & Commando Versions, STILL very nice kits, & the Commando one has a nice bunch of Vickers guns as well. At between £5.00 (flea-b@y) to £9.00 (retail) they still look good against the £15.00 Tamiya 4x4, the Dragon SAS at £24.00. Haven't compared them dimensionally to the Tamiya or Bronco's but someone on PMMS has. The Bronco 'ahem' GPW 1/4 ton 4x4 airborne, with superb crew & a Airborne 6pdr, was just too good to turn down at £25.00 though... In wingy-thing scale, the Hasegawa 1/48th 'Follow Me' is £20.00, eh? The Tamiya US figures at rest (?) set is only £17.00, with a 4x4 thrown in!. I got a no-box ex-frog Jeep, Kuebel & Schwim-wagen in 1/48th for £2.00 each still to build... And Airfix have JUST released a NEW Jeep & AIRBORNE Jeep sets in 1/72nd. plenty of choice there!

the base frame/body of the italeri jeep is fine. It does need some updated details though, such as the reflectors, bumpers, gas/clutch/break pedals, and some other bits. The wheels are the other large detractor, but those are easily swapped out for resin (or leftovers from Tamiya). The tilt texture is a bit odd, as it just looks like random scribed scratches. I use teabag and it looks like canvas.

would have been great if they had included some additional parts for a air-ground radio, signal flags, etc. And some unit markings!!

Can you use the Eduard etch set 35347, normally intended for the Tamiya version, to add some extra detail?

After the added expense of PE resin AM, etc., it would be cheaper to just buy a Bronco jeep, although about twice as many parts. Checker-board decals in various colors are available from Micro Scale Decals.

Thanks Biggles! But I got the Italeri jeep as a gift.

Dear all, Three questions: 1. Did these jeeps also operate in UK service? If so, how were they identified? Did they carry a registration number and unit signs? 2. Was a radioset in all jeeps or only in a part of these vehicles? 3. Does anybody know about the red and green flags you see on some pictures? Thanks for helping me out! P.
