News from the All Japan Model and Hobby Show has a new kit on the way from Meng for Leopard fans.
Meng has announced a Leopard 1A3/A4 as there next kit. This German built main battle tank was not only the backbone of West Germany during the height of the Cold War, but served with many NATO Allies. For years modelers relied on the old Italeri kit, but soon will have a newly tooled kit to build this popular tank. Meng has stated this should be available soon.

This question from a novice: why do we need another version? Aren't the HB ones supposed to be correct?
OCT 12, 2013 - 11:25 PM
Hi Bill, That's a two-parter. First, the HB Leo 2 kits still have some issues, and... Second, this isn't a Leo 2 - it's a Leo 1A4 (completely different-looking tank, sharing little more than a name with its Leo 2 replacement). The only other kits of this version are the ancient dreadful Tamiya rug-runner and the very adequate Italeri version. Despite the Italeri kit being fairly good (actually, great, for the late 70s!) it could still be out-done with today's technology. So we're all waiting to see what MENG brings to the party! Hope this helps clear things up!
