Verlinden Productions has a host of new product packages hitting the market covering World War Two to recent conflicts, and amongst it are some excellent tool offerings with items such as a gantry crane for some dioramas with height.
Verlinden Productions have fallen out of favour with some modellers but they should not be ignored as they still have some very good and original products either on the market or new to th market. I believe a lot of these releases are amalgamations of previously released items but even so it does allow for one stop packages for your models.

This engine is able to be seen on our Verlinden Facebook page in it’s construction phases for you to look at. In this kit of thirty-four parts you get the completed engine bay and powerplant as well as new engine decks which were the subject of lots of controversy with the Tamiya kit. 2715 - 1:35 Recon. Iraq/Afghanistan (17 Pieces) - $16.95
This kit of two figures from the modern US Army are on patrol in Afghanistan in their desert fatigues in this seventeen part kit. Shown working in a pair – these soldiers are looking off into the distance with one gesturing to the other in the distance – They carry the latest in MP4 assault rifles and ammunition and equipment pouches over their armoured torsos. Goggles on their helmets keep the harsh dusty climate out of their eyes when they are in their vehicles of helicopters.

2716 - 1:35 Gantry Crane (32 Pieces) - $42.95
This gantry crane is used for repairing heave vehicles like tanks and AFV’s. Consisting of evergreen strips and resin parts this crane is wide enough to fit in the largest German tanks of the war and even an aircraft wing (sideways) if you wish to portray it removing an engine from a bomber. This kit works really well with our 1:35 Panzerwerk Tiger I production basic hull kit no: 2648 – creating an excellent diorama with any warehouse equipment.

As much as I love Verlinden products, the figure range is starting to look the same with the only differences being a little bit of mixing of upper and lower torsos/ heads. Maybe some new castings and modern updating of the figures would add some zing!!!!!

That Verlinden 'Modern' US gear is showing its age for sure. I look forward to them ditching the M47 dragon launcher and maybe investing in a Javalin system or something relevent and in actual use. I could not guess when the Dragon was in a basic load for any US combat force in the last 15 years. With great sets coming from Black Dog, Legend and the likes I can't see spending my hard earned money on these sets.

Actually, I think the Verlinden webmaster is playing "Catch up" to show the products of 2012 and earlier. I've seen some of these products on eBay. But, yeah, the VP kits are getting kind of stale. Modelers know that many of the modern OIF and OEF figures are kitbashed from the same stock of parts and lack accuracy. They're pretty cheap for the price (two for the price of one good accurate resin figure), but they do lack certain criteria such as chinstraps and the latest modern gear. VP products may work for some modelers who desire a cheap source of decent resin items, not so for others...personal preference rules here. I have used Verlinden OEF/OIF resin figures and parts to upgrade DML modern figures and the VP figure parts sure help DML figures. Now that Live-Resin has their accurate items, Live-Resin parts could help upgrade VP's figures.

I have to agree with the others here- I still have a fondness for stuff from the Big V- their various diorama accessories like sidewalks etc are still useful and widely avaliable but a lot of their stuff is looking tired and re-hashing it every so often doesn't do them any real favors. I have the Middle Eastern War Loot set and what I will say is that there are some useful bits in it like the CD Player/Radio- it looks more modern than their old square boom-box type one and the laptop, DSLR Camera and some other items in this set are quite useful, although the detail could be a bit sharper.

I'm a bit disappointed as well with Verlinden's recycling efforts. Still, I was excited to see the M51 offering. However, it appears to be the same sort of mismatch on par with the recent Sexton discussion. The figures shown will not work with the kit. That M51 is the Tamiya version, good for the Six Day War. They wore French helmets, steel pots, US WWII tanker helmets, but not what appears to be T56-6 bone domes. I'm not even sure those are well done, but if so, would be correct for (being PC here) the October War. That said, I see a deficit here for good figures from this time period. I just purchased the MiniArt U.S. Tank Crew (WWII) and I think this set is going to be great for '67 IDF tankers, far more so than what Verlinden is offering. Plus they're in some better poses. Yeah, the leggings on three of them won't be right, but they can both be hidden inside the hatch.

Can anyone provide the built dimensions (LxWxH) of the VP Gantry Crane (#2716) ... preferably in millimetres?
