Paint Workers

Is it time to decorate the house? Well MiniArt has supplied some 1/35th scale figures to take the task on in a set titled Paint Workers.

Review

MiniArt has released another of their World War 2 period civilian figure sets whom are in this case shown in the process of painting an unknown subject. This offering is supplied in one of MiniArt’s end opening card cartons; I am not a fan of this packaging as the protection offered by it is low. A look over the contents reveals no issues with the moulding quality other than the usual mould seams that need to be cleaned up. I did do a double take on the ladder as that look to need a lot of clean up due to the number of gates and flow nipples present.

Looking at the two figures supplied in the set I am pleased to see different age sets and distinct builds with the older figure represent having a more portly look. The hand and facial features present are good with well defined fingers. The clothing hangs naturally on the figures and is different with the younger figure wearing the dungaree coveralls and the older figure wearing a shirt and trousers which is very common for the period.

Back in this period health and safety was left to the individual and so you learnt if it’s hot don’t touch it. So in that vein the ladders do not have cross members present to prevent them opening further; I know my grandfather use to use clamps to have a piece of timber securing them and failing that nailed in place and may be something you wish to replicate here. With all that said the two sets of A frame ladders do look pleasing detail wise. There are two style of paint container with one being the paint pot we are used to today and the other is a pale into which paint is decanted.

This figure set is pleasing as the figures can be used together or separately. They could be used to depict both interior and exterior use and I was thinking about painting a shop sign if you modify the brushes depicted. Overall the set provides some interesting options for use and I am sure you can think of other options for use. Overall another pleasing offering from MiniArt.
