Through The Lens IV

Here we take a look at the fourth title in the Through the Lens book series from Peko Publishing.

Review

Peko Publishing is aiming their sights firmly on the modeller with their Through the Lens book Series. In this release from Jon Feenstra we are provided with a hard backed book presented in landscape format, inside the paper used is of a good stock and presents its information well. The contents of this title are as listed below and so a decent mix for a title with 124 pages. All of this for €24.60

Panzerkampfwagen II (Sd.Kfz.121)

Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf.J (Sd.Kfz.141)

Panzerjäger III/IV für 8.8 cm Pak 43/1 (Sd.Kfz.164) “Hornisse/Nashorn”

15 cm Panzerwerfer 42 Sd.Kfz.4/1

Sd.Kfz.251 mittlerer Schützenpanzerwagen

38M Toldi I/II (A20)

There is no dedicated text to talk of but the large size of the images enables your eyes to pick out details that are easily missed in a smaller image. Each of the images is accompanied by a very well written caption that goes into some depth on what is covered in the image and sometimes providing aside information on the unit or vehicle. The information is presented in well written English using a font that is easily read. Some of the images are blurry as the author wants to cover a specific action or setting and an image of the highest quality was not available. For the most part the images are of a good to very good quality despite the large so the image is presented in.

Conclusion

This is another pleasing release from Peko Publishing from the Through the Lens series of titles. Some may be expecting written text but the book series name spells out what you can expect to find inside. The pictures are a mix of quality due to the time that has passed since WW2 and so I expect a mix of photographic quality in order for the author to present what he wishes too. What is a great addition is very well written and decent quantity of text in the captions for each image.
