The history of every country in today’s World is a complex story. Since it has been said that “a picture is worth a thousand words”, that story is often best told in photographs accompanied by accurate, descriptive captions. It is also a good idea to break that story down into segments.
In the case of the modern nation of Israel, the war fought to reinforce its Declaration of Independence is a prime example. This is especially so due to an ongoing conflict that preceded it, the various stages of the war itself, and the degree to which the Palestinian Jews/Israelis had to creatively arm themselves to successfully fight their opposition.
This book tells that story in great detail. The human element is here, but the emphasis is on the weapons, improvised armored vehicles, tanks.
Coverage includes the British Mandate, the Jewish Notrut program, PALMACH and the actual War of Independence from start to finish, 1947 to 1949.
