Review

This offering from HobbyBoss in 1/72nd scale of a German Panzer 38T Ausf. E/F is a small model, and has come out at a time where it is in competition with some very good offerings of the same vehicle in the same scale. The surface detail on this release is of a reasonable quality, however, some of the moulded on elements I feel should really be provided separately. The wheels and tracks are moulded as a single piece, which means you get well replicated track sag and also avoids the issues of trying to assemble very small parts. But I suspect that this will not meet with the approval of everyone. I do appreciate that HobbyBoss has released a number of finishing options and detail what they represent, with the finishing options numbering 6. I was trying to decide who this model would appeal to the most, and I have come to the conclusion that war-gamers and those modellers that prefer the painting and weathering of a model will be the ones most pleased with the release. The super detailers and high end modellers among us who love to add the maximum of detail I feel would be better looking elsewhere. I will not say that this is a bad model, and it certainly meets the criteria of an entry level model, that looks as it should but is a little light on detail.
