Fallschirmjäger-Brigade Ramcke Diorama.
The Fallschirmjäger (Luftwaffe Paratroopers) arrived in North Africa in July 42 taking part in Rommel’s drive towards the Suez Canal. After the defeat at El Alamein the brigade became part of the German, Italian defensive line. Following the British advance in late October the Italian and German troops including Ramcke’s Brigade were forced to retreat. As with their Italian comrades the Fallschirmjäger had no motorised transport of their own and had to retreat either on foot or by acquiring abandoned vehicles. After a journey of 200 miles, 600 Fallschirmjäger of the Ramcke Bigade arrived back at the Axis lines in early November 42. A fantastic diorama build from a modelling friend Liam Curtis.
