British Air Portable Fuel Containers, Mk 5 (APFCs)

Darren Baker takes a look at the Gecko Models release in 1/35th scale of British Air Portable Fuel Containers, Mk 5 (APFCs).

Review

To a high degree the modern military has been poorly served by model manufacturers once you move past the vehicles. Gecko Models has release a product which supplies what I consider to be a diorama product of four air portable fuel containers. These arrive in a flip top cardboard tray, with a card sleeve that does a good job of protecting the product. Inside there are two bags each containing two of the fuel cell bladders, and a Ziploc bag containing chain link that is used for lifting the cells under the helicopter, and separate locking hitch on each end of the bladders for securing the chain to.

Conclusion

This product from Gecko Models, is a simple but large part that most people will look at and wonder what it is. Something that caught me out when looking at the assembly is that you are directed to add a 30g weight to each of the cylinders, and the only reason I can think of for this is to prevent the bladders from rolling. My opinion is that these are an interesting product that will come In handy for filling an empty space.
