The Panzer 68 Serie 1 was a Swiss main battle tank developed in the late 1960s as a direct, modernized descendant of the earlier Panzer 61. Produced by the federal construction works (K+W Thun), this initial production batch officially entered service with the Swiss military in 1971. The vehicle was specifically tailored to Switzerland's unique defensive needs in the Alps and the Swiss Plateau, prioritizing excellent all-terrain mobility.
