B&L Models : The Outpost

3D printed figure kit from Vietnam War including four Marines from Battle of Hue.

B&L Models from Vietnam released a 3D printed 4 figure kit depicting United States Marines from  Battle of Hue, Tet Offensive.

A double sided color sheet has  a short informative note and shows figures photos which can serve as a color guide.

Figures come covered with a 3D printed mesh frame. This is a great way for transfer and I really appreciated it. There were no damage or printing mistakes on the figures, small parts like field gear and rifles, fragile parts like barrels and ammo belts, even any of the supports were not seperated.

Printing supports are well placed, too many in numbers to have good details but very thin and easy to remove. No damage occured during removal of parts from sprue.

Kit includes 4 U.S. Marine figures printed in one piece, two on sitting, two on kneeling poses. Team leader on radio talk, M60 gunner and 2 rifleman; one with M16A1, other with a Chicom Type 56.  Figures wear tropical jungle uniforms, vibram jungle boots, M1 helmet with Mitch pattern cover and M1955 Flak vest. Facial features, uniform details, trotters inserted inside boots, vest details like front closure, Doron plates and rifle guard on right shoulder are nicely represented.

Field gear and weapons are given as seperate parts and includes some extras.
* AN/PRC-25  Radio

* M60 Machine gun

* M16A1 rifle with M7 bayonet - 2 pieces

* M16A1 rifle - 2 pieces

* M79 Grenade Launcher

* Type 56 assault rifle

* First Aid pouch - 4 pieces

* 1 quart canteen - 8 pieces

* Ammo pouch - 12 pieces

US markings on pouches are nice touch. IMHO radio carrying harness could be a little more detailed.

Note that a basic surgery is needed. Pistol grips of the rifles should be cut before assembly. I noticed more surgery may be needed to add Type 56 magazine to the Soldier 3's hand. :))

The outpost kit is a well printed, no cleanwork, easy to assembly and useful kit for Vietnam War modelers. Not only for an outpost but these Marines can be used in many street fight or trench scenes and as armored vehicle riders.
