In 1916, Churchill served with distinction as a Colonel in the Royal Scots Fusiliers on the Western Front. To honour this often-overlooked chapter in his extraordinary life, Tommy’s War is proud to announce a new figure depicting Winston Churchill in his Royal Scots Fusiliers uniform from 1916.
The figure has been sculpted by Nino Pizzichemi.

This exquisite piece is directly inspired by Jennifer Marshall’s evocative artwork, bringing to life the heartwarming and heroic story of Corporal Austin Edwards and capturing the unbreakable bond of loyalty and quiet heroism between man and horse. In the chaos and terror of the Battle of Romani, Corporal Austin Edwards of the Australian Light Horse was gravely wounded, his life hanging by a thread, yet his beloved Waler, Taffy, stood steadfast.
In a testament to incredible loyalty and bravery, ignoring the thunder of gunfire, the screams, and every primal instinct screaming to run, Taffy waited resolutely, allowing his fallen mate to remount and carry him to safety from a place where so many made the ultimate sacrifice. In that single, heart-wrenching act of devotion, Taffy embodied the deepest kind of courage: the kind that overrides fear for the sake of those we love. This figure is more than a collectible—it’s a tender tribute to the extraordinary courage displayed not only by the ANZAC soldiers but also by their equally brave equine companions who shared every danger, every hardship.
