The Somua with a Nebelwerfer 42 launcher was a rare, experimental variant of German rocket artillery from World War II
The base was a Somua artillery tractor, captured by the Germans after the surrender of France, and converted into a rocket launcher carrier with a 15 cm Nebelwerfer 42 rocket launcher, used for barrage fire.
Thanks to the use of a Somua chassis, the vehicle was more resistant and mobile than the classic towed Nebelwerfer launchers. Depending on the version it had 6 or 10 launch tubes, firing rockets up to 7.000 meters away.
The rockets made a characteristic sound, which is why the launchers were commonly referred to as “cows” or “wardrobes.”
The kit is available at 1/35, 1/48 and 1/72 scales. It can be ordered from their webshop
