Issue 27 of Military Photo Report - Le Mag is focused on the French Véhicule Blindé de Combat d'infanterie (VBCI) . It is an A4-size book, bound, and printed in color on satin paper with 48 pages.
As its name suggests, it is an extensive collection of photos of this vehicle. The text consists mainly of captions, some of which are quite long, providing additional information about what is shown in the photos. All the text is in French.
The photos are clearly the main attraction of the book. They are neat and sharp and, although there are between three and four per page, they large enough to show many details thanks to the A4 size of the book. They are also very varied, covering both the exterior and interior of the vehicle, and even one of the engine mounted and placed next to it. The interior images cover the troop compartment and the driver's position, which, despite their small size, are well lit.
In addition to the exhaustive 21-page walkaround, there are four more pages with different camouflages, including drawings of two side views and a top view of the NATO standard camo.
Some camouflage variants are also featured. At the same time, it is possible to see how these vehicles get dirty depending on the terrain where they are used.
The next section contains several photos of variants like the medical version and others with transparent protection for the driver that was used in Mali. There are also five photos in various transports, from railway gondolas to aircraft and barges, photos of the shooting simulator and the paint booth, in the maintenance workshop and in shooting exercises. In terms of equipment, there are detailed photos of the 25 mm ammunition and the driver's helmet.
Finally, there is a section on newer variants, with photos of special protections such as slat armor, Qnet, and RS4. It also covers other versions such as the 30mm Hitfist OWS turret, the 40 CTA, and the Philoctète.
Conclusion
This is a very complete collection of photos of the VBCI, including details of the exterior, interior, variants, and camouflage. The photos are high quality, sharp, and large enough to show a good number of details. The French text is not a problem, as although it complements the photos with additional information, it is not essential.
Very useful for detailing kits, checking camouflages, reference for weathering or just enjoy a nice collection of good photos.
