The Germans needed light vehicles for transporting and towing guns, so they converted the captured Unic P107s into leichter Zugkraftwagen U304(f) – light artillery tractors
Modification into a combat vehicle was carried out by Baukommando Becker in Maisons-Laffitte, which specialized in adapting captured vehicles. Armor was added and a 3.7 cm PaK 36 anti-tank gun was mounted.
Vehicles of this type were used, among others, by the 21st Panzer Division during the fighting in Normandy in 1944. Although the PaK 36 was already obsolete against modern Allied tanks, the vehicle continued to serve as fire support and command.
The kit is available at 1/35, 1/48 and 1/72 directly from KM Models and distributors.
