11250
USS Gerald R. Ford CVN-78

  • move
Kostas Katseas continues his assault on the 1/1250 scale world. This time he shares his latest watery diorama with a depiction of the USS Gerald R. Ford underway.

In the past, Kostas has created a number of these 1/1250 scale dioramas using various base models, typically from metal casting; however, this time he has branched out deeper into the world of 3D printed kits and parts. All of the parts, the ship included were 3D printed along with the planes, deck tractors and some smaller items.

He mentioned although these parts were printed in 3D, they are "a bit rough in places but it's not too noticeable; more in the close up images than with the naked eye". Kostas tells us that he did a lot of sanding and smoothing at places and that he added extra detail in a lot of places. The model itself was rather basic but provided a good base with the general shape of the hull to be able to work the scene.

Model Shipwrights would like to thank Kostas Katseas for providing photos of his latest piece, the USS Gerald J. Ford, to us.

Amazing as always. I think this is the first model build I've seen of this new carrier class.
