Churchill Mk III

  • move
Federico Scassa shares with us some images of his Churchill Mk III in a very nice diorama setting. The tank represents a vehicle in use with No.1 Troop, Right Flank Squadron, 3rd Scots Guards, 6th Guards Tank Brigade - Normandy, 1944. The base model is the AFV Club offering that has been upgraded with parts such as photo etch from Voyager and Orange Hobby and accessories from Royal Model, Armour, SKP Model and Plus Model. The figures used are a mix from Alpine, Alexander Miniatures, Dougs Original and Hornet, painted with Humbrol enamels and Windsor & Newton oils. The diorama base has utilised items from MK35.

Ciao, Federico. That is what they call a "complete" diorama... If you have missed any detail, probably shouldn't be there Superb all around work. Warm Regards.

Normally, I'm not a fan of the Churchill cause they just look "clunky." However, the excellent work on this entire scene, and especially the MkIII, just might get me to add something British to the stash. Beautiful job, Federico!! The scene reminds me of several photos/films showing British armor motoring around Caen.

Hi Federico, Excellent work and a great display. Well done. As Gary pointed out the Pixie suits are out of time frame but you could easily switch the crew. A well though out diorama with lots of great detail. Cheers Al

Very inspirational work. I had just picked up a 1/72 Churchill MK III kit and have been pondering how to do it. I love tanks build with lots of 'things' piled on the vehicle and this subjects has that and more!

The impressions in the ground from the tracks look very realistic; it gives it a sense of how heavy these vehicles are. Nice work indeed.
