Taliban T55

  • move
Gary Boxall does something very original to me, by building a Tamiya T55 representing an ex-Soviet tank used by the Taliban in Afghanistan.. He has built the Tamiya T-55A base kit and added ABER and Voyager PE (fenders, stowage bins etc.), he has also added Voyager Models 12.7mm ammo boxes, RB barrel, Modelkasten tracks, Legend fuel tanks and some scratch built details (such as light guards, fuel lines). The figures are from Warrior. Painted with acrylics and weathered using mostly Mig products and oils with decals from Bison.

Usual childhood of making Auirfix kits which dropped off the radar once further education was started. Picked up the scalpel again some 25 years later finding that the hobby has changed big time - but just as enjoyable.

Cool - I like the beat-up look and general dustiness of this tank. You did a fine job.

Great work. There is just a detail that is a bit off; the talib smoking. Smoking is forbiden by the most extremist views of Islam.

Great looking build. I love the extra detailing and the weathering. The extra effort definitely paid of. 0

Amazing realism..looks great. very impressive. The figures really sell it too, they "fit". As for that fundamentalist Islam non-smoking business..don't be silly.

I like the sand that's collected in the recesses of the jerry cans.
