1⁄1Museum Tour: USAF Museum part 2
introductionIn our last portion of this tour, we learned that the National Museum of the United States Air Force preserves and displays aircraft that have been significant to the history of military aviation.
In our last installment of the tour, we looked at the beginnings of military aviation in the United States, and at the rapid technical development the US Army sponsored during the 1920s and 1930s. This week, we look at the time when the aerial forces of the United States military came of age and became an effective military force in their own right.
world war ii galleryThe first portion of the tour begins with the display cases around the perimeter. Artifacts and equipment used by air and groundcrews are featured, as are mannequins dressed in the uniforms of the major combattants. Both flying and Service Dress uniforms are on display. This potion of the tour continues with a look at some of the diorama displays on the main exhibit floor.
A quick look at a sampling of aerial weapons and a captured FLAK-88 anti-aircraft gun round out the perepherals of the exhibit room.
