hi, The upper pic on Grenadier37's post is an M240 (7.62 mm) ,the lower pic's appear to be M249's (5.56mm).The 249 will accept M16 mags, but in my experence do not work very well.(13 yrs USAF CATM instructor).Others may have different experiences with them. We used the plastic boxes mounted on the weapons rails and had no problems. just my 2 cents worth... Jake

@Robert Skipper: Yes, I know the figure is not really looking like a Special Forces... This guy comes from BLAST. Long time I have been looking for a figure looks more like SF, but nothing was available... NOW, there is a nice Special Forces from MIG Productions ( MP35-313) available. Too late for this project, but if I ever will build a second SF-GMV.... This figure will be added, for sure!!!

it's actualy not an 240 but an M249 the box is as i can see attached to the mount, we use a similar mount on our Buma and the M249 is attached with a quick release bolt

John, thanks for the clarification Gijs Can you post a picture of your Buma configuration or a link that may show how it is configured please? A quick release bolt, is it similar to a quick release camera mount? Regards Bill

Regards Bill [/quote] i dont have a picture of it (primeportal is offline) but the 249 is attached to the mount with a bolt like the second from above this is actualy the mount we use for our bushmaster but an 249 also fits in there so when you need to leave the vehicle somehow you can quickly take the gun with you so no screwing is needed

Gijs Thanks for the examples. I don't want to jack Thomas' thread, he deserves all the kudos for his excellent HMMWV. Perhaps we could start another thread to discuss gun mounts. Regards Bill

The best SF figures will probably be from OOP Infinity Shape of Korea. One can find them sometimes on foreign eBays such as eBay.UK.

OOPS! Right thought (sort of), wrong photos. Here, a US Army Ranger engages the enemy with a MK 48 Mod 0 7.62mmx51mm belt-fed machine gun. Think of it as the 240's, skinny, good looking, little sister

hi, Sorry Thomas, got wrapped up about the 240/249 thing and clean forgot to express what a great model you built. Hope mine comes out half as good. Really good work! Jake

Great build Thomas: looks stunning. Now, please excuse me for taking this slightly off-topic again! Gijs or anyone, can you tell me where I can get this mount? It looks like a resin set: is it available to buy somewhere or as part of a bigger set? Thanks, Sean
