Just HMS was the norm during the war for security reasons.

I recently read a description of the briefing given by General Horrocks to the Guards Armored Div before they hit the road to Arnhem where among the motley uniforms being worn Duffel coats are mentioned. With a change of head and some work on the Bellbottoms would this figure be suitable as a Tank Officer NWE 44 or is he wearing too many layers ?

Nice review mate. I got mine today and there is no sign of any pitting what soever on the sleeve. Perhaps yours was pre-production?

Yes it'll work (it's what I'm doing) Pete sent me the MP's head, The bell bottoms are okay with two patch pockets at the bottom they could pass as Pixi suit trousers (have a look at IWM 15234)
