Forty additional photos have been uploaded (50 total) of interior and exterior of the M88A1. Almost everything the resin interior purchaser would need to detail out his AFV M88A1 (and Revell of Germany).

This is great Rob!!! I bet all those AM companies would pay pretty penny for these.. Thanks, man!!

Now a question.. how much of the interior would be visible in a model?

ROB RULES O.K. ! Thanks for the great pics, Rob. It's too bad there is no M 39 taking dust in a corner of your motor pool

Hey guys.. I have just received MR Models interior and the instruction sheet says it can't be used for M88 from Nam..
What are the differences in M88 and M88A1 interior? I know that the engine is different; any other things???

Mario,
I see you got your interior. Well here is a shot of mine so that way you know how much you can actually see when it is done.

No way... Come on Pete, this couldn't be true...

Anyways, any tips on the model? What should I be aware of? How are the tracks?

Which kit do you have, Veitnam or Modern? I believe the Vietnam came with both rubber band tracks and the workable ones. I used the AFV workable ones on mine. Both are great!! I know I had trouble with the ammo racks that come with the MR kit, you have to build them yourself and there is a lot of test fitting. Also, a suggestion, make a rubber mold copy of the tool boxes that come with the inerior, you never know whne you might need a tool box somewhere else. Other than that, the kits went together very well. I did add railroad chain and eye hooks at the top of the boom. Oh, the .50 CAL cradle came from the ABER .50 Call photo etch set.

I took a few more shots of the brand new M88A1 that came in. Look for the new photos to be added tonight. Both interior and exterior shots were taken.

Clearly evident are forest green overspray on the tracks and road wheels and some very unrealistic weathering caused by road salt spray on the drive from the off load ramps to my site about 5 miles away. It was so cold, we rotated three NCOs throughout the drive back. I noticed changes in the inner surfaces of the track. I took side-by-side photos for comparision.

Both tracks will be inside through next Friday so let me know if there is an close up you may need. I'm off until Tuesday for MLK this weekend, so Tuesday evening will be the earliest requests made this weekend will be uploaded.

Outstanding job, Pete... If you have some more images I'd love to see them. You can send them via e-mail if you want.

Rob, thanks again for the pics. This is great reference for one of the coolest vehicles...

New question... If I'd like to make paint chips on the beast what would be the "chip" color? I've seen silver paint chips on some M88 models, but that somehow seems strange to me... Anybody?

Mario,
I made large copies of the pictures I made in the late 1980's of an M88 in Germany. Friday was a messy day at the airport, but I'll take them to the post office on Monday.
I'm sure they will be of help for your project, but they don't come even near the number and quality of Rob's pics. I really must start building an M88 too. She's one mean and ugly machine. I just love it.

Thanks Jan.. I'm sure those pictures will be of great help. You were thinking of doing AFV Club's vehicle in 1/35 scale or something larger? If I remember correctly you prefer 1/16 scale... M88 in that scale would be... HUGE!!!

The main winch cable for the crane comes through the roof of the M88 right? How does it look when the boom is deployed? I've only seen Migs' pic of his M88 in Egyptian service but the shot was not close enough. All of the other pics I saw on the 'Net have this door closed and the main cable running through a hole in the door's side.

Nice pics compadre! Thanks! That site is a treasure trove!

Problem is I need more closeups. The kit only has a gaping hole on the roof where the cable is supposed to come out and I don't know if I need to scratchbuild a bit.
