Hey Bob - I headed on over to the local Walmart to take a look at the compressor last night. I think I spent about 20 minutes just looking at all the cool gadgets and accessories that you can use with this thing. In my store, all the accessories and stuff were right next to the compressors....including a moisture trap. The one they were selling ran about $11 and was one of the nice clear shell ones with a little drain nozzle at the bottom (not like the crappy little Pasche option). For $16 you can get a combo regulator/moisture trap, but you probably won't need that one since the compressor already comes with one.

I remember the crappy (AND LOUD) Pasche compressor I bought as a kid for $100 and the little metal water trap I had to buy extra to stop the persistant water problem with that model. Where were you guys 12 years ago when I needed you?!?!

BTW, they also had a ton of different connectors available but I am not sure what size goes with the Aztec (which I am thinking of buying). Anybody know which set to buy?

If anyone is having any major problems getting a hold of a moisture trap or sizers...let me know and I might be able to pick something up here and send out your way. Seems my store has got the hook ups!

PS I think yesterday was my first time ever in a Walmart....guess I am not a Mart-virgin anymore!!

Just get the standard male and female quick disconnects.

The male fitting on the bottom right will fit on the Aztek connector.

Thanks guys. I guess I will head down to the local WalMart Supercenter this weekend to look around. If I cannot find what I need I may contact you Rotkohl but it appears the items should be in the store from what y'all related.

my question to the people that have the CH t what are you using for a moisture trap if anything?

Hi Bob - In the 2 years I have been using my C/H air compressor, I have never used a
moisture trap ( MT ), and have not had the slightest bit of any moisture/water
particles come through my airbrush while shooting paint.
But if you are looking for the MT, for the C/H FP2003, they do make their own, like this one:

You can get it on the C/H Website: Just enter MP5138 in the "Find a Part " search box.
http://www.chpower.com/

Also Micro-Mark sell's a "universal " inline moisture trap with hose.

I can also vouch for the CH FP2003 compressor as I bought one several months ago. Haven't needed a moisture trap and it works like a champ. The F-18 in the article in the aviation section was done completly with the CH/Paasche H setup and details some of the setup I used. I have an old Paasche H airbrush and the airbrush hose that came with my brush will connect right up to the compressor with no extra fittings required. I did install a quick disconnect though so I can easily remove the airbrush hose when I need to inflate bike tires, car tires, wife's brain...etc.

I recevied my Campbell Hausfield compressor and either it is is defective or it does not operate according to the way I anticipated.

When I turn it on with the pressure valve closed it will build up to around 75lbs pressure in the tank. Then I open the pressure valve to around 30 PSI and start airbrushing. The pressure in the tank will drop accordingingly and the motor will only turn on intermittently for a second or so. It never stays on long enough to bring the tank pressure back up to 75lbs and if I keep airbrushing the pressure will drop to zero.

I left it on last night for an hour after it had dropped to zero and it never did get back up to 75lbs and only got as high as 25 lbs which is below the level I want for air brushing.

To me, the automatic aspect should allow it to get to maximum pressure and then as you use it when it reaches a threshold of say the level you are air brushing at, it should turn on the motor and ensure that the tank stays at a high enough pressure so you do not fall below. This ain't working that way.

Bob, sounds like you have a defective compressor. When initially charging, it should charge up to approx 100# before shutting off. When there is a load on the tank (i.e. airbrushing) the compressor will automatically start at approx 75# and then recharge back up to 100# where it will shut off again. I'd send it back for a replacement or contact CH via their website.

Yes, I must agree that the C/H FP 2003 air compressor is a good choice. I've had it for a few months now. Low noise level, small size, nice blue color... hey, I like blue!
As for the moisture trap, I don't have one yet. Can't say I've emptied more than a few drops of water out of the tank in the months I've owned it. The only one complaint I have against it is; I do my airbrushing in a hot, stuffy garage so after a while of continuous spraying the motor gets to warm and auto-shuts off. I probably wouldn't have the problem if I sprayed indoors. (but then I'd expose myself to hazardous paint fumes.. "Ma! When did ya paint the livin' room pink?" #:-) )
Bottom line: I highly reccomend it!
BTW, welcome Dan!

YodaMan - More than a little unusual

It is a good compressor for the money but when painting it will not run past about 15 mintues without shutting off indoors or outdoors faster say a good10 minutes. Think the motor is a little small for the job

Just an update

I am not sure what size the connectors are - they are a standard english size thread. I want to say 1/4" or 1/2"? Not 100% sure.

They standard size is 1/4" try looking on ebay, you can find the conector that fits into a standard 1/4" quick release coupling or something (not sure on the correct name) I bought one and it works great with my compressor.
