Front to rear you're looking at right around 77mm, or 3 inches. For your other dimensions you can scale down the image and simply measure.

Keith, although you said 30 round mag - do you mean the box mag with a slight curve to it ? If so, that was the standard mag for the LMG and when they were ever fitted to SLRs we had to have the mag spring reinforced to push up the rounds as the LMG springs are gravity assisted as they were top feeders. The standard SLR mag was a 20 round box mag.
To be honest, for realism I would go with a 20 round mag if your using it on a UK SLR as the 30 round ones were rarely used unless someone wanted to look a bit Rambo ish and as said we're only used if you had the spring reinforced otherwise it caused stoppages.

What John said, I personally never saw one used on an SLR. If you are really wanting to print some the dimensions would not be too far off a Bren magazines size if not exactly the same. In 1/35th I would think it would not be noticeable if there was a difference. I think I have an old Italeri accesories set with Brens in them. I could certainly measure one or even send one to you as you would need to get the curve angle right also.

Chaps,

The Italeri Light Weapons Set has an SLR in it - described as "FN/FAL" although it looks more like an SLR than anything else in my opinion.

The Dragon Modern Machine Guns set has an L4 MG in it - the converted Bren if you like, which is quite nicely done. (I used one recently on a Brit M109).

The problem might be - if using either of these as a template - is that they are seated within the weapon; however, they might help as a starter I suppose. The curve on the magazine for the L4 is quite subtle.

I do recall during my own service in utilising an L4 mag on my SLR although that was playing "enemy" on some exercise or other - all great fun with 30 rounds available - mind you, being "enemy" always is - unless you get caught(!)

Their is also a Straight 30 rd SLR Magazine used on the L1A2 Heavy Barrel AR support weapon (not used by the UK but used in Australia, New Zealand and I believe Canada). the Magazines were dead straight and came in Bren Magazine Boxes. We also had L4 Brens and interchanged the Mags and I never once suffered any stoppage due to poor Spring compression. Funnily enough in my last Field Posting we had mainly Bren Mags for our L1A2's until they were retired in 94!

To add to Al's comment it was very handy to score the 30 round mag to your ammo load for an Australian infantry soldier in the late 80's with an SLR.

Just like the 20 round M16 mags and upgrading to the 30 round Mag. Heaven... This is for the Aussie grunt in the late 80's. Before the intro to the Steyr.

The extra 10 rounds can go a long way in a fire fight.

Michael
