Lol, I know I know, I got side tracked when I was posted to my new Camp, so a few things as well as modelling got put on the back burner. Then started doing bits and pieces to all 3 but never seeming to get anywhere.

Thanks John, I wish I could remember the manufacturer. I picked it up at a UK modelshow (Huddersfield?) 10 or 15 years ago. Resikit? Resicast? It has been sat part painted for many years....

Those carriages are among the most fiddly and flimsy assemblies I've ever built.

Hey folks. I couldn't find a kit that I would like to build that is allowed inn the other group builds currently in progress (and I've already finished a few kits for some of them). Ironically, my last 3 builds have all been shelf queens 4-5 years old hehe.

So, I decided to settle on this Academy Wirlbewind. I had built this kit for a prior Anti Aircraft campaign but I never got around finishing it. It's already been primed yellow. We'll see what camo option entices me the most Hope I can redeem her from the hall of shame.

Amazing how much better the passenger and gunner figures look compared to the driver, which is from the original release if I'm not mistaken.

Just a quick update. I managed to paint on the camo and the wheels on the kit. Will be proceeding to the weathering shortly.
EDIT: She looks a little bright in the photo but she's darker when not overexposed.

Ron those extra 2 figures do look much better than the original. But with a good paint job, I'm sure you will bring it up to scratch.

Took the plunge and joined up. Here's where my FT-17 is at now. A little embarrassing, no idea what I was thinking with that blue...







Sides are dry fitted, so repainting the engine shouldn't be a big deal. Undecided on the final paint scheme, might stray from the colors provided, time will tell.

Hey folks. Have a lot of time on the bench due to the quarantine. Managed to finish her quite fast. Gave her a bit more weathering. Was thinking of giving her a bit more effort in tying the running gear together but I'm happy to move on. Might scratch the itch later on but I think she looks okay.

Edit: upon looking, I forgot to do a bit of spot weathering on the wooden tools. Have fixed it. Will see if I can take photos later on.

Excellent Nigel. Looks fantastic. You might have a mould line on the bottom section of the jack and the back of the axe head, but that may also just be a trick of the light.

Repainted the engine and added some wiring. Needs a couple touch ups in some spots, but it's mostly there.



Started this kit over two years ago, and I must have improved a lot since then. I'm catching obvious ejector pin marks and seam lines I ignored or didn't notice the first time around. Repairing the worst offenders, luckily I didn't get too far with the build first time around.

Looks great James. A lot more subdued tones there now!

Must be some personal satisfaction in knowing your skills have improved. Getting better over time is what we all hope for.

Thanks Peter. Made some more progress this weekend. Focused on weathering up the interior and getting the sides on.









Still got the back of the seat to install. Might do some more weathering in the fighting compartment too. The hull sides were a bit of a pain to get glued up, will need some putty to fill gaps. Not sure if this is the kits fault or mine, but in the end it should work out.
