Yeah I know but when someone clings to a theory or story that has been disproved beyond a shadow of a doubt it gets frustrating. It's like those people who still believe the world is flat. Last month that guy killed himself trying to prove the world was as flat as he believed when we've known for centuries that it was round. A wasteful death. One flawed story vs mountains of facts and the flawed story wins. I used to think Sherman's weren't that great then I started reading histories of WW2 in H.S. and I had a lit teacher who was in the infantry during WW2 and Korea who told us that one story isn't the whole story. So I started reading and seeing more of the data and I changed my opinion.

I hate ignorance, I hate willful ignorance even more.

Yeah, I’m just curious why the U.S.wanted m-26’s if Sherman was so good and why the tankers and command after seeing how good they performed wanted all that were available?

The world is full of them ... Too bad the world isn't flat, otherwise we could push them over the edge ....

I’ve been watching this thread out of curiosity for a couple of weeks now. Probably due to the current social distancing we’re supposed to be practicing. I’ve determined many folks add comments based on just the last comment they read. This particular topic has been hashed and rehashed several times over it’s 9 pages, and it’s apparent opinions are like the proverbial rectum—everyone has one. If you have it locked in your mind something was bad, nobody’s going to convince you otherwise. There are a lot of “what if’s” folks have expressed here, but the only real “fact” is, none of us experienced it and few of us lived through it. We know the Allies were victorious. But both Germans and Allied soldiers died in their tanks, regardless of the tank you were riding in. It only proves one thing—war and military service are dangerous, and technology and doctrine evolve. In some places faster than others
