Update on my Bandai 1/48 Hetzer.

I drilled out the engine vent, and made louvers out of styrene.

Next I added some fine mesh over the louvers to replicate the original structure.

I drilled out the outer diameter of the muffler. I then added an insert pipe.

I thinned down all the hatches, and replaced erased details. I added a gun sight, binocular scope, and remote fire MG from the Tamiya kit.

Lastly, I added the side skirts. I did a cut-a-way on the left one to match up with the hull.

Now it's on to final painting. Thanks for viewing. Good luck to everyone in finishing their projects. Bill

Fantastic work on that Hetzer Bill. Love the cut away idea.

Got started last night on my M10. started with assembling most of the interior

Sanded off the goofy tool locator outlines

Started on the top hull. The welds will get redone with stretched sprue.

Well, I'm finished on my Achilles. It was a fun build, but it does have quite a few mistakes. I corrected what I could and hid the rest!

I gave the crew some bootleg American rations. They traded some tea for it!

COMMENT CAFE:

Lap Man, cool to see a gun truck in the campaign. Have fun.
Ezra, thank you.
Ernie, much appreciated. Good start on your M10.
Angel, paintwork on your Su-100 looks good. Almost a shame to cover up all the extra work you did.
Phil, beautiful StuG. The figures add great realism.
Jesse, fantastic finish on your Achilles. Great paintwork.

The clock is counting down on this fun campaign. Good luck everyone on finishing your projects. Bill

Update on my 1/48 Bandai Hetzer.

Base coat of the ambush camouflage scheme.

I used Vallejo acrylics for the paintwork.

I went through my decals spares pile for some appropriate markings.

Thanks for viewing. Good luck to all in finishing your projects.

Looks good David

I would echo the point about the paintwork Jesse. Interesting to compare the Academy kit with the Tamiya one.

What can I say about the Hetzer, Bill. Somehow you have made a 40 year old kit look like that, and in 1/48th scale.. The Splinter camo is superb. How did you do it?

Hi mate,

yes once you have finished your tank destroyer you must upload it to the campaign gallery, there is a link for it on the first post on the first page of this thread.

hope this helps

Hi Jesse. Your M10 looks great. I remember reading somewhere that on US open topped vehicles anything visible from above was to be OD. I'm about to shoot the interior of my GMC M10 and will be using the same scheme as yours.

Fine looking builds gentlemen, I don’t want to leave anybody out so they all look fantastic.

I have some more work done on my GMC M10. The interior is ready for some paint

Gun details are done and the turret interior is ready for paint

The barrel was assembled but did't like the supplied plastic tip so I used brass tube cut to length and super glued in place.

It looks tons better than the plastic one

Hi Ernie,
According to the Hunnicutt book, that is right. The drivers compartment is white, but everything else is O.D. Can't wait to see your M10.

Looking great guys.

Phil, the Dodge was sold after the war for commercial use. They took the WC and uprated it to 1 ton capacity from 3/4 ton and called it a "Power Wagon". Still a lot of these and WC's being driven as regular commutes today.
