Hello. Aa collection of interesting photos is weekly provided on Missing-Lynx. Always looking for exclusive materials, this week I found these 2. All photos come from a German eBay auction.

Almost sure this is Beute, but have no clues on the manufacturer of this big truck.

The other one looks like German, could also be Italian, but what is it?

When you have information on these two, that would be great.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan

The second one looks like a Büssing-NAG for me. The first one could be a VOMAG variant possibly.

RE: The first one..... Didn't know they had portable toilets back then. Looks like a truck for sucking them out.

I'm pretty sure second one isn't a Bussing, but no idea what either are. They don't have that Germanic look to me and I'm pretty sure they're not Russian. They don't have that complicated hub arrangement most Italian trucks of the period seem to have so I suspect they are French, but don't know the manufacturers.

After a little research, I think the tanker might be a French heavy truck, either a Bernard DI 6 C 15 tons or even better a Rochet Schneider, but photos are very rare.
Rochet Schneider tankers. Probably a 455 variant

Bernard DI 6 C 15 tons. The length of the chassis is more convincing to me.

Photos are for discussion purposes and come from this site:
http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/Homepage_english/Motor_Vehicles/France/Rochet_Schneider/rochet_schneider.html

Maybe H.P. knows more?

Second one is an Austro-Fiat 4 D 90.

First one is french, no doubt, could also be Renault, Berliet... even Bernard but then a model before the "chassis à boutonnières" series. IIRC those rear windows are typical of a brand, but can't remember which of them.

I also focussed on the rear windows, but no match yet. I'm not sure, but the French Army had a batch of American Heavy Trucks delivered in the mid thirties. Will check for the White I think later tonight.

About the American truck mentioned in the post above. Text with the picture says Deuce and a half, somewhere on the Western front.
This one has the looks of the truck photo I can't find right now.
Is this a White, maybe International build? (Has some looks from the Rochet Schneider too).

IMHO all I can say is that if the first pictured truck is an ex-French Army one, it was probably a requisitioned civilian vehicle (like more than 150 000 other trucks...)

Hello H.P. In fact the 2 photos reminded me of the photo, which I can not find now. In a comment they were speaking about an American program to supply France with Miiltary equipment, some were in the Mid Thirties.
When I have the photo and link to that comment I might have some better material to discuss.

Yes. I found my reference for White producing Trucks for the French Army.
A very nice model.
White 704S
Years of production: 1939 - 1940
4x2 3-ton cargo militarized truck for French Army

But this photo is still not the one I'm looking for.
I'll keep digging.

The White 704S was ordered in september 1939, along with two other 5 ton trucks :

the Studebaker K25 (2000) :

and the Dodge VH-48 (1500) :

The Army also received about 2000 GMC ACK 353 2.5 ton trucks similar to this one :

The Germans would make good use of them...

Thanks H.P.
I love the looks of those Studebaker and White trucks from the late Thirties.
Leaves the tanker as not recognized yet.

Yeah that is a pity. But the steering mechanism is very typical and visible.
It's such a nice photo to watch. Typical scenes from that period.

The Axishistory forum is indeed a gold mine for German-related reference stuff. Are you talking about the tanker truck in the first picture you've posted or the one in the last ? I'm no expert, but I don't believe the latter one is French...

Hello H.P.
I think the tanker is a French truck. Just have to find the special rear windows shapes. The other one, with the kid in front of the hub, I think is a Berliet, not 100% sure yet. Still some 200 pages to go.

That's a Büssing-NAG Type 350, 1933-36 model. The brand logo can be distinguished in the radiator.

Thanks for your decisive input Javier. To me this truck had a "German look", but the early type radiator grill deluded me...

Here's a 1935 Büssing-NAG type 300 :

and here's a race car transporter version (1934) :

R.J.'s insistence has finally paid off
