The details, colors, weathering, all top notch work!! Would you explain the Texture Rolling Pin you used for the road surface?

Thank you Jack ! The roller pin from Green Stuff World, and this build is going to be an article about it (review) and how to make my base using that tool for the Michigan Toy Soldier Blog, which I write.

This is the one :

It works with any epoxy and clay. But since I was adding it to a wood base, I needed self curing epoxy, nothing that needs to be baked after.

Excellent work Julian, especially the weathering & really impressed by the rolled cobbles too, I’m considering trying it myself so if you have any other tips about using it, I’m listening. (Just wondering if the Raupenschlepper Ost (East) operated on the Western front, though - I guess anything’s possible) Great photography also - what will be your next project? – a larger diorama hopefully!

Hello Tim, thank you !

This build is going to be a full review article on the rolling pins on the Michigan Toy Soldier blog, which I write. Check the blog link in my signature, it should be up later this month. I explain in detail how I used, and it's very easy to use.

About the western front, yes, they had RSO's. After 1943 which this one came to existence (03 Variant) they were sent also with older 01/02 models to Italy and Balkans like the 114 Jäger Division. In the Fall of 44 a large number were delivered to the western front to the Volksgrenadier and Volks-artillerie as the main Pak tow vehicle. There are some other regiments with smaller numbers.
As documented on the Nuts & Bolts Book Vol 29.

Best,
Julian

You Have done a great job on this and also added a very nice painted figure. Love the RSO and that old tarp set from Trakz is fantastic and very very hard to find now.

Everything in this little dio looks great the RSO the way you painted the tarp the figure and the groundwork.

Thank You Peter !

This was a shelf queen for more than a decade.

The tarp is actually from Warriors (the box at least).

I am very proud of how it turned out, and was actually happy that I waited this long to build, because it was done with a lot more expertise from myself.

Best,
Julian

Nice, very nice.
One of my favorite logistic "trucks" from WW2.

What exactly are the headlamps used from Elf models?

Thanks ! Its a very premium headlight set from Russia which you get a sprue with light housing, aluminum reflector, lenses and light bulbs. Each headlight has its own parts and are the most realistic there is in 1/35th scale. Very hard to find, but some japanese stores and russian carry them.

There is only one criticism that I could find. Otherwise, it would look fantastic on MY shelf .

The road wheels would have all the paint worn off where they rubbed against the guides on the track. It would have left a ring of bare metal around the outside edge of the road wheel.

Thanks !

It has the metal worn out as you described, first using chipping to a metal color underneath, then polished with Uschi’s metallic pigments. Maybe you can’t see on the photos.
