I should have gone to Dishmodels.ru first. There are a couple of great 'walkarounds' with lots of helpful placement and detailing images. Edit there is one on p19 of the artillery section, the one on page 23 is an anti aircraft mount and is different from the kit.

Shows parts L 15 and 17 as they SHOULD be oriented, not as the instructions show..

The problem with the picture is that the gun hasn't been in use for a long time. Is the barrel locked in place or just stuck on? Who knows?

L15 looks like it's the front post of a sight which wouldn't be used on your mount anyway. I'd say ignore the picture and keep going.

The initial coat of paint on the base. Ammo cans done with RAF Green and a dusting of OD (they are only placed on the base, not secured).

Moving right along with the Talos build, here are a few photos of the two stages of the Talos in the final colors.

First up is the first stage (rocket) painted using Vallejo paint.

Here's the second stage (ramjet) painted using Mission Models paint.

And here's a side by side comparison.

After I shot these photos, I gave both stages a double coat of Alclad Aqua Gloss in preparation for the decals. Unfortunately, I ran into the modeling dance step of one step forward, two steps back.I was not happy with the smoothness of the gloss and tried to lightly polish this out with high grit sanding pads. I wore through the top color in several locations to show the primer. In addition, I found a few small spots where the masking tape pulled up the top coat showing primer. Rats!

I am now respraying the top coat and hope to get back on track soon.
Have fun modeling!

Looking less like an ashtray now Mike H. The green on the ammo cans will be a nice contrast.

Bummer Mike I. For me, the nuisance factor of painting lifting with tape is exponentially larger than the size of the chip that was taken out. Then sanding the chip to feather out the edge just makes it all the more frustrating. Hope it works out for you.

I am now in the home stretch with my Talos build. The decals are on and as soon as everything dries, I'll overcoat the missile with a gloss clear followed by a semi-matte finish. The decals are cobbled together from several letter/number sheets, black stripe sheets and a few odd and ends from the scrap box.

Have fun modeling!

Hi everybody. I still have to finish my Opel Blitz with Flak 38... First I have to buy one more because I used parts from it for other projects. So, I will make few more entries.
I will try to convert this Sd.Kfz.10/4 to 10/5.

I will use Flak 30 from it to make Horch 108 with flak 30.
But before that, I try to make Horch 108 with flak 38 from this three kits

adding resin wheels and whatever I find useful from Plus models Horch engine set.

And I will build one Flak 88.

Hello!
I'm getting involved in the campaign with a Bronco model. That's 3.7 cm Flak 36. I will add to it the artillery tug, but I have not stopped the model yet. Most likely this would be Sd.Kfz.11 Late. Here are the initial photos.

Good luck!

Nice choice, Kalin!

I've build this kit and-although am a big Bronco fan-I have to admit there were some very very very fiddly moments
Hint: be very patient when building step 4.

Kalin, I echo Angel. Be patient and check the instructions closely. It builds into a great little kit.

Kalin, welcome. That is going to be one nice combo...
Angel, thanks. We will see how everything will turn out. I will post some progress as soon as I have something to show.

Well, I do believe I crossed the finish line for this campaign! My 1958 issue Revell Talos model is now finished. Hard to believe that this kit has been around for more than 60 years! For an old kit, the missile and launcher match really well for a Talos prototype. I converted it to the Talos RIM-8 from the kit depicted XSAM-N-6. Here's what the finished model looks like:

This has been a really inspirational Campaign and I am glad to have been part of it. I am looking forward to following the rest of the builds now in progress!
Have fun modeling

Mike,
You must be proud with the justice you gave to this 60 years old kit.
Really nice!

Just awesome Mike. I have loved watching this one come together. Your passion for the build really came across in every post - and especially in the end result. Sensational.

thanks for joining in and giving us the pleasure of watching such a rare kit come together.

Very nicely done, Mike. I’m really hoping this one gets extended. I’ve got the SA-4 Ganef that I want to do; but I’m still working on my M9 ACE for the combat engineer campaign.

Mike, nice work. To tell you the truth, before your build I never heard of Talos rocket. It'a just not part of my interest. But I like to see something different.

Thanks everyone! Even though the subject was a bit unusual for a campaign in Armorama, I am glad that you enjoyed the build. When I brought the Talos in as an "in Progress" build to my local model club a few weeks ago, a few of the guys thought I was crazy for building a rare kit. However, it looks a lot better now sitting on my model shelf than it did in a box in my storage closet!
Have fun modeling!
Mike

BogiBg - The Talos is not very famous or well known, but it did serve in the Vietnam war and has 4 Mig kills to its credit. Of course, those missiles were painted in all white rather than the colorful test markings!

Hello!
The three main parts of the cannon are built. I did not expect the model to be built easily, despite the small parts. It was fun.
Here are some pictures of the cannon.

It is the order of painting and then of weathering. The main color will be German Grey.

Here is the second part of my project. Sd.Kfz.11 Late of the AFV Club (35047).

To be continued.
Good luck and cheers!

Good job, Kalin!

I see you enhanced kit details with some styrene rod(step 4 construction, I assume )

Anyway- the 3.7 cm. Flak looks great!
