I've been pretty much, exclusively, a Cold War/Middle East builder that last 20 years, but this kit could very well alter my thinking. This kit might be some of the best detailing I've seen in a kit in quite some time.

Funny you mention this Jack ...
Myself, only doing Cold War / Modern AFVs for the past decade + somehow this kit also got me quite attracted to revisited my "modeling roots" of WW2 again.
There is a certain PANTHER from the "Battle of the Bulge" I do want to make beside all the M1s and Leo's etc. I'm working on ..... but this Panzer IV .... really weird

Cheers
Christopher

It's out, mine has already shipped. Looks like a real decent kit with good value. Lots of metal goodies and all the plastic parts should you wish not to use PE. Lots of goodies to dress up older panzer IVs in your stash!

*For those unaware, Border has been around for a while but only making brushes and tools.

Julian, where did you order your kit from?

Yes it is quite odd Chris...after all this time, this is the only Pz IV that has 'hit the funny bone". I most likely will read a review before purchase, or, I might just dive in.

Looking forward to seeing the build log. This model has a lot of promise.

I had to get one from evil bay, 39.97 with free shipping was something I decided to risk. I got it today (yesterday if the mail carrier had put the kit in the box, but that's another alternate universe).

Aside from some curious painting/marking choices, as has been mentioned (in what universe did the DAK get PZ IV's with skirts! Or did I miss something important?), it looks very good! I'll take a few oops like that for a good model any time (I really hope it builds well!).

The only thing I saw that I wished had been done differently is the skirt mount locating holes on the hull and turret. You have no choice but to add the mounts, or fill in the holes. If this ones sells well they should do the F/G, with a plain hull.

Some of the marking options bugged me too; I've never heard of or seen photos of any PzIV as early as Kharkov with tricolor camo OR schurzen.

Me too found lucky models had them in stock.
Must check reference as there is a few color schemes that don't quite look right.
Panzer 124 looks to be overall Dunkelgelb

Since I can't leave well enough alone, I'll probably go for some aftermarket decals.

Good luck with that there is not very many aftermarket decals for the mid/late Gs.
Closest sets are from Echelon decals.

Echelon is probably what I'll go with. I'm in the process of gathering images for reference.

I knew there was a mistake in the markings somewhere.
Panzer 632 from the Pz.Rgt 3 2.Pz division had the older style commander's cupola it has the older style double hatch.
So if your planning to do 632 don't but you can do 631 and 633.
The only other way is to source a replacement from another kit.

I just got the kit yesterday. The markings leave a bit to be desired. IMO they seem to have been a bit "creative" with the markings. However, doing the research is half the fun.
